Bailey Harris is a dancer and choreographer born and raised in Austin, TX. She graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. She started her dance studies at the age of thirteen and was eager to learn. She began her training in contemporary, jazz, and drill team field dance styles while on her drill team in high school. Throughout high school, she performed and choreographed a handful of solos and dance team pieces and taught many masterclasses.
At Texas State, Bailey furthered her dance training in modern, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and dance improvisation. She fell in love with improvisation and mind-body movement connection, and plans to continue with these practices in her own work. She has had various performance opportunities, including being a member of the pre-professional modern dance company Merge and dance festivals, including The American College Dance Association, 254DanceFest, and Small Plates Austin.
Before transferring to Texas State, she was studying psychology at Blinn College but soon realized her heart lies within dance. Although psychology is not her main focus anymore, her choreographic approach blends movement and emotion, bringing out her dancers’ unique strengths. She hopes to inspire others with her unique movement blend and vision within the art of movement exploration.
Bailey plans to continue choreographing for various studios and dance teams at the middle and high school level. She has an optimistic outlook for the future opportunities that surface for her and is ready to share her passionate nature with others who resonate.
